1) This chart was created from historical tables included in the U.S. Federal Government fiscal year 2011 budget and U.S.
Census Department U.S. resident population projections.
2) The chart shows the budget for each agency of the federal government during the 2009 government fiscal year (FY), divided
by the total U.S. resident population, charted from largest to smallest.
3) Note that the budgets per resident of each of the top four agencies - Health and Human Services, Treasury, Social Security
(Off-budget), and Defense-Military - are over 4.5 times as large at the next largest agency (Labor) budget.
