California Budget Proposed, 2009-2010, All Funds vs. State Funds
So What?
1) This chart shows the Governor's proposed (as of January 9. 2009) California State budget for fiscal year 2009-10, by major
budget category, including State Funds and All Funds, sorted from largest to smallest overall funding level.
2) The budget generally is comprised of funds from multiple sources: State, Federal, non-government, and reimbursements. 'All
Funds' includes all these sources. Federal funding is the largest contributor to the budget beyond State funding.
3) Federal funding would move Health and Human Services, the second-highest State funded category, into first place, in front
of K-12 Education.
4) Many other budget categories also would receive very significant amounts of Federal funding.
5) Federal funding would nearly triple the investment in Higher Education over State funding levels.
6) Nearly all of the funding for State and Consumer Services as well as Labor and Workforce Development would come from
Federal funding.
